Welcome to 1st Heathcote Scout Group
1st Heathcote Scout Group can support your child's journey from Joeys at 5 years old, through to Venturers up to 18 years old.
We have Leaders who have a lot of experience in many areas such as canoeing, abseiling, canyoning, hiking and much more. We like to put the out into Scouting.
1st Heathcote Scout Group is nestled next to the Royal National Park giving us great access to lots of the outdoor adventures. Canoeing on Gunnamatta Bay, abseiling in the shire, and we also have the Heathcote Scout Training Centre just down the road to do campfires, cooking on the open fire, wide games and more.
We also focus on pioneering activities with Boree Regatta by building a raft with ropes and timber poles this is just one of many main events on our yearly calendar.
Right at our back door is Camp Coutts at Waterfall, our major campground. Every year on the June long weekend at Camp Coutts is the South Metropolitan Region Camp, with up to 1300 Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders having a fun weekend with a wide vary of activities and an opportunity to try new adventures from abseiling, crate stacking, climbing cargo nets over the creek, navigation, cooking damper twists, campfires just to name few activities. Also, our Joeys and Cubs join in at the Region Camp for one day of lots fun and new adventures too.
Joeys and Cubs along with their own events, camps, campfires, hikes and more throughout the year.
Our Activities encourage the youth members to learn leadership skills for their future life (it is not forced it is natural in the way it is run). They learn to negotiate and to work together as a team, they also have their say in what activities, events, camps, hikes they would like to do for the year.
If your child is interested there are also large Australian camps like a Jamboree or Cuboree, and overseas Scouting events and adventures too.
1st Heathcote Scout Group has the following Scouting sections:
Joeys | 5 to 8 years old on Friday afternoon |
---|---|
Cubs | 8 to 11 years old on Wednesday evening |
Scouts | 11 to 14 years old on Tuesday evening |
Venturers | 14 to 18 years old on Tuesday evening |
We have some long term Leaders that are there to support you and your child to get the best experience Scouting can offer. We would love to help our youth members and parents to learn and come on the journey with us. As an adult, you can learn to canoeing, kayaking, abseiling, caving and more. Whatever you want to do, we will find a way to support you as you learn how much fun it is to be a Leader.
Our Leaders joined with their children and have experienced how rewarding it is and how much it enriches your connection with your child.
